Efficient Drive+

Battery-Powered Electrohydraulics Power-Pack for Mobile Work Vehicles

Electric auxiliary power enables modern on-road machines to operate with lower emissions, reduced noise, and predictable performance in daily use.

In this reference case, Hevtec delivered an electric e-PTO solution for Tyllis, battery-powered electric auxiliary hydraulics that can be implemented as a practical and scalable solution across vehicle platforms.

Starting point: Battery-powered power-pack as a cross-vehicle electrification challenge

Designing an electric power take-off requires more than replacing a mechanical PTO (power take-off) with an electric motor.

The starting point is understanding how auxiliary power behaves as part of the whole machine:

  • High-voltage system limits, safety, and protection

  • Power electronics, electric machines, and battery behavior

  • Hydraulic functions and varying load profiles

  • Control software logic, state handling, and diagnostics

Without system-level understanding, electric auxiliary power risks inefficiency, unstable operation, or limited usability in real work.

Hevtec scope in this electrification project:

Hevtec supports Tyllis as a system integrator, delivering an e-PTO (electric power take-off) solution where hardware and software are developed as one coherent system.

  • Multiple energy source management
  • Charge while driving
  • Cooling system control
  • Data logging and edge computing
  • Auxiliary system control
  • Charge control
  • Touch-screen GUI
  • Intelligent power and energy management
  • Interface for truck body control

Solution – Electric power-pack system

The Tyllis Efficient Drive+ e-PTO provides electrically driven auxiliary power without a mechanical or hydraulic PTO.

Auxiliary hydraulic functions such as lifting are powered locally by a battery-powered electrohydraulic system. Power delivery follows actual demand instead of engine speed, enabling controlled and efficient operation across different working modes.

The solution is designed to function as part of a modern electric vehicle architecture and to be applicable across different vehicle platforms.

Result – Predictable electric power take-off performance across use cases

A practical and scalable e-PTO solution enabling electric auxiliary hydraulics across vehicle platforms, delivering predictable performance, supporting sustainable daily operation, and maintaining control over lifecycle costs.

“Hevtec joined the project through a partner recommendation and brought deep expertise in high-voltage systems, batteries, and controls. Their IoT solution significantly improved how we monitor and control the system."
