ZE160 Grid-Battery Electric

First Project Together with Nasta

The ZE160 electric excavator was our first project together with Nasta dating back to 2017. The machine has an operating weight of 17.5 tons and is the first electrified construction machine produced by Nasta.

The Result

The electric excavator uses the intelligent power management system called “PeakShaver+”, which enables hybrid operation with a 400Vac grid connection and on-board battery. The machine has a 44 kWh lithium-ion high voltage battery system and grid connection possibility up to 125A 400Vac, which enables 24/7 usage of the machine.

The machine is powered by an 86 kW electric motor. When connected to the grid, the machine uses the available grid power first and the battery is used to supply power during high load situations. The battery is automatically charged every time there is excess power available from the grid.

The operation time of the machine in battery mode varies between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the type of work performed.
