KE Thor

Charging Units for Electric Construction Equipment

Kverneland Energi develops energy systems that support the green transition. KE Thor is a mobile high-power charging unit for supplying electric power to construction machinery in remote and off-grid locations.

In this reference case, Hevtec contributed to the electrical design and control system integration of THOR, supporting reliable operation in environments with limited grid capacity and high power demand.

Starting point – Mobile high-power charging in weak-grid environments

Electrifying heavy-duty operations often requires temporary or mobile energy solutions that can deliver high DC power independently of local grid limitations. These applications place strict requirements on power electronics, control, safety, and system reliability.

For the THOR mobile power unit, the challenge was to ensure predictable high-power performance while maintaining a compact, mobile form factor suitable for harsh operating environments.

Hevtec scope, electric powertrain services

  • Charge control
  • Electrical design
  • Charging inlet thermal management

Proven delivery track record

Hevtec has delivered 85 CCS charging systems since 2022, when the collaboration with Kverneland Energi began.

Solution – Power and control integration for the THOR mobile energy unit

Hevtec supported the THOR solution by contributing to the power and control system integration of the mobile energy unit.

THOR is a mobile power package featuring:

  • 400 kW DC output

  • 291 kWh battery capacity

  • Designed for high-power charging where grid access is weak or unavailable

Hevtec’s role focused on system-level integration to ensure that power delivery, control, and operational behavior meet the requirements of demanding heavy-duty charging use cases.

"Working with Hevtec has been a smooth and positive experience. We appreciate the collaborative mindset and the shared focus on quality throughout the process."
